L’association a été décrite en 1975 par Augier et Boudouresque et contient comme autres espèces végétales caractéristiques Blastophysa rhizopus, Ceramium bertholdii, Polysiphonia subulifera, Rodriguezella pinnata, Spermothamnion johannis et Sphacelaria plumula.
